From Prevention Magazine: Waffles Keep Your Weight Down by Jan Eickmeier "Eat breakfast" is almost a weight loss mantra, but does what you eat first thing in the morning also matter if you are trying to avoid overweight and obesity? Yes, according to research from Gladys Block and colleagues from the University of California, Berkeley. They used study data to associate the type of breakfast people ate with their body mass index (BMI) and calorie intake. People who ate ready-to-eat cereals, cooked cereals, or quick breads (a class that contains treats such as pancakes and waffles) for breakfast had lower BMIs than people who skipped breakfast or who ate meat and eggs. Meat and egg eaters had the highest energy intake and some of the highest BMIs. The authors say their analysis provides evidence that skipping breakfast is not a good way to manage weight. High-fat foods and eat-on-the-run breakfasts are also detrimental. ********* OK, what do YOU think?
